Exterior Order of the Temple of Aesculapius.

The Pilaster Capital of this Temple, and indeed all the Capitals throughout this Palace, are raffled more in the Grecian than the Roman Style, which I have been very careful to imitate. It is more than probable, that Diocletian, who had been do often in that Country, brought his Artificers from Greece to Spalatro, with an Intention to vary the Execution of his Orders of Architecture in this Palace, from those he had executed at his Baths at Rome, which are extremely different both in their Formation and Execution.
