First edition of the George and Alice Hepplewhite furniture design book, “The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer’s Guide; or, Repository of Designs for Every Article of Household Furniture” which is presented in online format here.

Hepplewhite First Edition

A folio edition of Hepplewhite’s classic pattern book in exquisite morocco gilt, red crushed. Also with a gilt-decorated spine and marbled endpapers. This work was often used in a practical way by woodworkers and carpenters and so early editions are usually in a very worn state, however this example, with 125 plates, is in exceptionally good condition.

Since 1988 there have no public sales of a first edition of the “The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer’s Guide” and this is only one of five copies in existence. Find out more.
