The origins and history of one antique French Renaissance Cabinet.
Interesting article on an antique French Renaissance cabinet at the Getty and beautiful pictures.

The cabinet, made of walnut, oak, paint, brass, and iron, with linen-and-silk lining, and standing 10 feet tall, 5 feet across, and one foot deep, was acquired by J. Paul Getty in 1971 against the advice of his curators who believed it to be a fake.
In almost perfect condition, and suspiciously coated with colored wax, it was thought the piece was a Renaissance Revival production. Getty however paid $1,700 for it, the low price reflecting the strong doubts about its authenticity.
New research however has suggested that Getty’s nose was good with scientists presenting strong evidence that the cabinet is genuine. Read the full article, http://www.getty.edu/art/exhibitions/cabinet/?newsletter047
