The Pennsylvania studios of an antique reproduction furniture maker.
Irion Furniture Makers one of America’s most renowned makers of handmade museum quality reproduction furniture in American colonial styles is opening its Pennsylvania studios (One S. Bridge Street) to the public for the first time from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 12, to showcase works from its new “Masterpiece Collection”, where it is recreating the most loved pieces from the Colonial era of American furniture.
The Collection is the result of six years work on commission from an anonymous collector and focuses on Queen Anne, American Chippendale, and Federal, styles.
Using sometimes 200 year old wood, and working from original drawings and plans each piece takes an exhaustive amount of time to complete.
Items on display include grandfather clocks, bold high chests and Bombay chests, and stunning wooden sideboards, some of them still under construction.
While antique restoration was the original focus of the Irion Company it branched out in the 1980’s into duplicating American antique furniture classics.
